American Collegiate Rowing Association Poll

May 7, 2008

This is the fifth coach's poll for the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA). The ACRA has divided the country into six regions: North East, Mid-Atlantic, South, Great Lakes, Plains, and West. The weekly ACRA poll can have as many as, but not more than, 3 voters from each of the 6 regions for a total of 18 ballots.

The University of Virginia remains in the top spot in Men's Varsity 8 poll with the University of Michigan #2, and Orange Coast College is #3. In the Women's Varsity 8 Purdue University continues its run atop the polls.

The Lightweight polls reflect the tight racing seen so often on the race course in these events. Another change this week has the California lightweight men back at #2 with Fordham at #3 and Delaware holding on to its #1 ranking. Virginia Tech and California are the clear choices at the top crews in the Women's Lightweight poll with both splitting the first place votes between themselves.

In the Freshman/Novice Men's polls the University of Delaware and Orange Coast College each received 5 first place votes. In the women's poll Grand Valley State University holds steady at #1.

The next regular season poll will be released on May 14, 2008.
